Malaysia VS Thailand

Since there are some visitors from outside of Malaysia, i am writing the blog in English so that there will be many more from overseas and we have a better understanding. Just recently, i am browsing the world map using Wikimapia, just try to see our prawn farm from the satellite. Unfortunately, the view of Ulu Bendul is not clear at all. Therefore i just browse to some of the northern states where there are many tiger shrimp farms, particularly in Pantai Remis, Perak. I was amazed at the intensity and the size of their ponds. Most of them at least have a minimum of 6 paddlewheels. Refer picture below.




But then, i look upon my old friends' place in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand, where prawn farming is huge, supported by Thai government and they are the world's main exporter. I was totally shocked!! Its like a dedicated area, similar to the size of one state with a very very big ponds. All of their ponds never uses paddlewheels but long arms, very very long ones. Refer below pics.





So i was thinking, why is Malaysia aqua/agri culture is way behind them? Why are they so advanced and have all the technologies, chemicals and everything? Malaysia is way modern and economically stabil than them. Well, firstly i think we are in the industrialization era and does not look at the agricultural field anymore until recently when our current PM encourages us to do agriculture. We rely on imports. Secondly, the government support on the Thais is very very immense. They have everything, they do not rely on other coutries for technology, they even have labs at the ponds to check water quality for free!! This is something we do not have. So, where do we go from here? How do we get to their level? I am looking for that answer

Longarm Paddlewheel

Baru-baru ini kami telah menggunakan teknologi long arm paddlewheel yang biasa digunakan oleh penternak udang harimau. Kebanyakan long arm digunakan di negara Thailand yang lebih advance dalam penternakan udang ini. Kami menggunakan long arm kerana ia lebih menjimatkan kos,dapat bekalkan lebih oksigen kepada kolam serta menghasilkan arus yang lebih deras di dalam kolam. Keburukannya ialah jika tidak dipasang dengan betul, banyak part mudah rosak dan maintainance tinggi. Long arm paddlewheel menggunakan motor, pulley dan gear. Setupnya terletak pada kekreatifan masing-masing. Kami menggunakan 5hp motor untuk bekalkan oksigen kepada 2 kolam. Terdapat juga 3hp motor untuk bekalkan oksigen kepada satu kolam. Ia lebih murah kerana kos untuk satu sistem tidak lebih dari RM2k, manakala paddlewheel biasa 1hp berharga lebih kurang RM1k.
